WHO AM I?

As I mentioned on my home page, I'm Sean Romanoff and I am a freelance copywriter from Maplewood, New Jersey.  I believe in writing that's clear and simple, with a genuine voice -- like a real person.  By writing like a real person I create copy that connects with people.

WHAT DO I DO?

For one thing, I'm the staff writer for ThirdPath, Inc.  I write email updates -- their success stories -- they regularly send to their members and friends.  I'm completing a workbook with them at the moment, and later this year I'm starting a book that takes an in-depth look at their successes.

I've also written both business and human interest features for Millburn*Short Hills Magazine and Summit Magazine, which are part of the North Jersey Media Group.

In addition to my own writing, I'm also a writing professor at two local universities. This gives me a unique perspective about writing and how to communicate with people who at first may not be receptive to your message.  But I get those people to read your message, to hear you, and understand the value of what you're saying.

IT TOOK ME AWHILE TO BECOME A WRITER, BUT I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT

Writing has always been an important part of my life, yet I didn't always realize how much.  It seemed clear that I would be a writer when I was an award winning sports writer/editor for an acclaimed high school newspaper, but as often happens, I got sidetracked during college.

Somehow I ended up a lawyer instead.  Luckily I liked the writing part of the job and that got me pointed back in the right direction.

A few years later, I managed to use my law degree and my interest in writing to wrangle a part-time position teaching composition.  That finally awakened my feelings about writing that had been mostly percolating under the surface since high school.

Shortly after that I started my staff writing job at ThirdPath.  My business has continued to grow and I now also work with graphic designers and local businesses.  Although I work hard, it isn't really a job at all now that I'm doing what I love.
